Interesting information about the Mission
Father Junipero Serra volunteered in 1750 and served for the Franciscan Mission. The mission was in the new world or California. He walked the whole way and he also got hurt himself by getting bitten by a bug or insect. Amazingly, he found nine whole missions including my favorite one mission San Francisco De Asis.
Mission San Francisco is the first landmark in San Francisco. It was founded June 29th 1776 but it was not finished until 1791. That means it took 15 years to finish it. No wonder it took so long because it was 10 feet thick and 22 feet wide.
When the mission was started, there were no Indians. The Indians were afraid that the Spaniards brought guns and diseases. The Indians that did come were overworked and not fed well. They also had bad weather which brought sicknesses to San Francisco De Asis. The Indians near San Francisco De Asis were the Ohlone Indian Tribe.
